Built by a cleft dad, for cleft families
Hi — I'm Matt Landstrom, a dad in Michigan. My son Gabriel was born with cleft lip and palate, and in those first overwhelming weeks, my wife and I discovered something: finding the right care team felt almost as hard as the diagnosis itself. We didn't know which questions to ask, which programs to trust, or where other parents had been.
That experience led us to start The Blue Disc Project, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting babies and families affected by cleft and feeding challenges. Our mission line is simple: Small Disc. Big Difference. So far, together with our community, we've collected 1,600+ blue discs, helped 600+ families, and sent complete bottle sets to 50+ families.
Cleft Surgeon Finder grew out of the same idea. Parents kept asking us how to find a good cleft team — and we kept wishing there was one honest, verified place to point them. So we built it: a free directory of real cleft teams and surgeons, every listing traced to a published source, with room for parents to leave honest reviews of their own experiences.
What we promise
- Real data only. Every team, surgeon, phone number, and photo traces back to a published source — usually the ACPA directory or a hospital program page. We never invent listings. Read how we verify listings.
- Honest about what we don't know. Insurance networks change constantly, so we deliberately don't publish per-team insurance lists that could be wrong. Each profile gives you the team's real phone number so you can verify coverage directly.
- Reviews are real or they don't exist. Every review on this site comes from a submitted form and is published only after moderation. We will never fabricate a review, a rating, or a testimonial.
- Rankings are never for sale. Teams can't pay to appear higher. Sponsored placements, if we ever offer them, will always be clearly labeled.
What this site is not
This directory is information only — not medical advice. We don't recommend specific surgeons or teams, and nothing here replaces a conversation with your pediatrician and care team. Read our medical disclaimer.
Help us make it better
This site gets better every time a parent shares their experience. If a cleft team treated your child, find them in the directory and leave a review — it takes a minute, and it helps the next scared parent choose with confidence. New to the process? Start with our parent guides, or browse teams in Michigan, Texas, or California. Spot an error in a listing? Tell us and we'll fix it.
